Animal Health Angels backs HERlab as its final investor ahead of Seed round
Cambridge, UK — 20 July 2026
The specialist animal-health investor network joins HERlab's backers as the Cambridge biotech prepares to open its Seed raise.
The Cambridge-based Biotech × AI startup lowering the cost of making animal-health medicines today announced that Animal Health Angels has joined its investors — the last to come on board before the company opens its Seed round.
Animal Health Angels is a UK network of angel investors drawn from across the veterinary and animal-health industry, and part of the UK Business Angels Association. Alongside funding, its members bring deep sector expertise, mentorship and connections. For HERlab, whose work sits at the meeting point of biotech, AI and animal health, having investors who know the veterinary field first-hand adds both credibility and practical support as the company scales.
"I was first introduced to HERlab and Dei in 2025, and two things immediately stood out for me: technology that had the potential to be disruptive and create significant new market opportunities, and a smart CEO who had already built and exited a company," said Dr Mark Binns of Animal Health Angels. "Having personally invested in the company, it was a pleasure leading them through the AHA investment process, culminating in securing investment from multiple members of the angel group."
"As a CEO, I'm delighted to have specialist investors like Animal Health Angels on board," said Deimena Drasutyte, founder and CEO of HERlab. "Backing from people who know the veterinary field is a strong signal that we're tackling a real and pressing problem in animal health — and their network and expertise have already proven invaluable."
